Kawartha Lake Stewards Association – AGM

KLSA is delighted to have as guest speakers:

Anna Ciorap, Water Management Manager for Ontario Waterways, Parks Canada,
and
Leora Berman,  founder and COO of The Land Between and Turtle Guardians

Anna will be discussing water management of the Trent Severn Waterway. 
Leora will be explaining the Blue Lakes Program, which is a free, voluntary program for lakefront property owners in “The Land Between” bioregion, interested in protecting the health and integrity of their lake.

A Question of Boundaries

Jack Lake activist Ambrose Moran has been working on this important issue (township boundaries) since the early 90’s resulting in 2 Municipal restructuring studies…. after extensive community consultation… recommended:

  • to improve cost effective delivery of municipal services
  • to ,recognize that Apsley is the community of interest for Jack lake rather than Havelock
  • and that  “local government is intended to be “local”

that the municipal boundary should be adjusted to result in all of Jack Lake to be in North Kawartha.

Neither North Kawartha nor Havelock Belmont Methuen Townships even responded to the Jack lake Boundary Committee letter requesting a process be initiated to implement the  propose boundary adjustment.
